Online High School can be difficult for students and PARENTS! Below is a list of the most frequently faced problems that you may encounter. Do any sound familiar?
My student refuses to log in or does very little work on school days.
This is tough because students (especially high school students) can't be forced to work. The best thing to do is to contact your teacher right away and discuss your concerns. The teacher will set up a one on one weekly conference with your student to review expectations and place them on a SUCCESS PLAN. There are also other strategies that can be discussed over the phone or email to keep your student on track.
My student looks like he/she is working, but I can't tell if they are turning in all the assignments due for each class.
Each assignment has a due date. Watch the video below to find out how to access each due date.
I don't understand how classes are set up and/or how students complete them for credit.
Full Time Uintah Online students are expected to complete a class every 2 weeks.
Combined Enrollment students are expected to complete all online courses by the course end date set in their class, prior to the end of the trimester. All lessons and tests are given a due date. Students are expected to stay caught up in all registered online classes and have all assignments completed on or before the due date outlined. Late work will not be worth full credit, so please check in with your student often and make sure things are being completed on time.

My student is being marked absent or tardy for class? How does this happen when they are taking the course at home, online?
Students are required to login and work actively in their online course every school day. Every lesson is assigned an expected due date. If the student is not caught up, and is not logging in and working actively for the required amount of time, he/she will be marked absent or tardy from class.
My student says they are "stuck" and the program won't allow them to move on.
At the end of each Unit, the student has a Post Test that must be passed with a score of 80% or greater. If your student did not pass this test off, it must be reset by the teacher. Students are to fill our the Post Test Request form (located on the homepage of this class website) to request post test resets. Students can have a post test reset multiple times and can use notes for testing. If a student is waiting on a Post Test reset, they are encouraged to complete work in another course while "waiting" for a reset.
